Walking into the trullo you are greeted by a light and spacious living/dining area open plan to the kitchen, decorated with azure blue ‘Cotto Siciliano’ tiles and equipped to the owners exacting standards. Everything that you would normally expect in a modern home is provided, including dishwasher, expresso maker, blender, juicer, Wifi, CD selection, videos, library, and television theatre system. Every architectural detail of this ancient trulli in Puglia, has been lovingly preserved to create a unique holiday rental experience.
There are two bedrooms both with en-suite shower rooms, located either side of the trulli’s living area. The Levantine bedroom is in the original trullo and authentic Byzantine in style, but with a wrought iron king size bed. There is also a sitting area, with Moroccan daybed and Berber floor cushions. The ‘Lamia’ bedroom is more contemporary chic, with a glamorous Mahogany four poster bed and hand painted Neapolitan floor tiles from Puglia. Two metre thick walls in the trulli, creates a cool sleeping environment.
The magical ‘ethnic’ room, is a funky area to curl up with a book on the wrought iron day bed, reclining on antique Indian cushions and surrounded by colourful art from the Near East and Puglia. This is a beautifully decorated room with a floor of rough hewn Iranian marble, walls painted in aubergine, then gold glazed, with stencils of citrus lime, silk paintings and tribal adornments, gold, purples, tangerine, magenta, all shout a glorious passion for colour. A mystical cave through which to enter the old trulli.
